Projects

Enchantment is a state of being from which communion with the living world becomes possible.

My practice explores how relationship shapes what can emerge. Through art, writing, play, ceremony, community and attunement, I investigate the conditions that cultivate meaning, creativity in service to a more enchanted culture.

Once you’ve experienced the world as deeply alive, it’s difficult to return to experiencing it as merely a dead object.

Together, these projects form an ongoing inquiry into relationship as a creative medium. They explore how the ways we attend, imagine, make and co-create shape the culture we inhabit. My work brings together disparate worlds – ancient symbolic traditions, ceremony, wild materials, ecological practice and technology – to ask how frameworks of understanding shape the realities we create. Through these projects, I continue to develop my own capacities for enchantment as relational presence while cultivating the conditions from which new forms of meaning, creativity and culture can emerge.

These are my practices of relationship and enchantment.

inquiry

Alchemical Cosmology

How do contexts shape consciousness and meaning?

A living cosmology of alchemy maps, ceremony and symbolic transmission exploring re-enchantment as a practice, not a destination. This body of work emerged from personal initiation and is a process of composting my digital adulthood into an animist/alchemist elderhood.

Through using AI as a part of this project I am investigating context and worldview itself as a creative medium. These digital inquiries are then translated into digital graphical diagrams and then alchemised into a handmade alchemical tome crafted through natural pigments, handmade paper and ceremonial making.

play

Play as Connection

How can play cultivate connection and imagination?

Exploring how computer games, play and interactive storytelling can cultivate wonder, connection, imagination and more reciprocal relationships with the living world. We are concerned with real world and relational impact of digital experiences.

We previously made 8-player game Chompy Chomp Chomp Party as a way to bring people together and we are now creating biophilic and mythopoetic game experiments.

In collaboration with James Woodrow co-running Utopian Sandwich.

making

Rooted Materials

How does making with place transform perception and belonging?

Working with handmade paper, natural pigments, foraged inks and seasonal making practices to explore how materials, place and craft shape perception and reconnect us with local ecologies.

From my Shepherds Hut Studio in Abington Woods. I received an arts council grant in 2022 to learn the skills for this project. I expect to soon evolve this into workshops and sharing with the community.

storying

Mythic Mother: Raising Children of the Earth

How do stories shape parenting, culture and belonging?

A writing and artistic inquiry into motherhood, childhood and culture, exploring how stories, ceremony, attention and relationship shape the ways we can raise children into an Earth centred paradigm.

A Substack Newsletter.

Ceremony

Rites of Passage

How do thresholds transform people and communities?

Exploring ceremony, initiation and seasonal practice as ways of supporting personal transformation, belonging and meaningful transitions within contemporary life.

Ceremony and ongoing inquiry in collaboration with Gail Burkett, writer of Nine passages and Soul Stories.

holding

Relational Fields

How do we cultivate communities where all life can thrive?

This is my research into relational fields and how to hold them. Through this I tend community spaces that explore how culture, responsibility and collective wisdom emerge through relationships, shared practice and participation. This expresses through weekly meet ups, camps and a vision for land based community centres.

In collaboration with Emma Lacy of Earth & Mind CIC and my home educated children.

Attunement

Subtle Energies

How do practices of attunement shape perception, relationship and creative emergence?

An artistic inquiry into practices of attunement. Through dowsing, symbolic drawing, site-responsive interventions and ceremonial walking, I explore how attention, relationship and embodied perception shape the forms that emerge.

Outputs include enchanted walks, symbolic sigil drawings, dowsed field maps, stone circles, labyrinths, ceremonial practices and site-responsive interventions. Through these forms, the project explores attunement as a creative practice – allowing relationships with place, pattern and energy to inform what emerges.
