An artist, writer, and facilitator, I move at the edges of subtle energies, technology, consciousness, mothering, and mythic imagination.
An artistic inquiry into mother, myth, matter and machine
I am an artist, writer and facilitator whose practice explores how relationship and worldview shapes what can emerge. Working across drawing, natural materials, ceremony, writing, games, community and dialogue with emerging technologies, I investigate the conditions through which meaning, creativity and culture are formed.
My work is rooted in the understanding that creativity is not simply the production of new ideas but a relational process. I am interested in how the stories we inherit, the materials we work with, the places we inhabit and the relationships we cultivate shape perception and the futures we are able to imagine, bringing these inquiries into practical, lived expression through art, play, ceremony and community.
Through a series of long-term artistic research projects, I develop practices of inquiry, play, making, storying, ceremony, holding and attunement. Together, these explore different pathways towards a more enchanted world—not as an escape from reality, but as a deeper participation in it.
I see art as a way of making invisible relationships visible, creating spaces where people can encounter new ways of seeing, relating and belonging.
My Story
I grew up on a one-acre homestead, a child in love with the land. As I grew older, that intimacy faded. I trained in Fine Art at university but struggled with the pathways laid out for me. I was drawn into corporate life, becoming a web designer, UX/Service Designer and eventually Head of Product Management at a software company, far from the world that had called me. That grounding in technology and systems thinking has never left me. It now surfaces in current research exploring how AI systems respond to different conceptual worldviews, work that sits at the intersection of my land-based practice and my technical background.
Motherhood opened a doorway into something larger. The birth of my first child lasted seventy-two hours, and at the point where I had nothing left, I felt the energy of the Earth move through me, not from me, but through me. It felt like a gift from the Earth, ancient and real. In 2019, a miscarriage coincided with a dark night of the soul. Grief poured through me, both personal and planetary, and I was initiated into a new way of perceiving, listening, and being. I began to sense the living presence of the world and the relational nature of life itself.
Gail Burkett became my elder mentor along this path. Through her guidance, I learned to listen to land, sense energy flows, and respond to its intelligence. Myth and ceremony became tools for exploring belonging, attention, and the stories that shape culture. I began holding moon and seasonal ceremonies, and rites of passage for my family, not as performance, but as practices of remembering, repair, and care.
My son, a naked wild child who refused a coat so that “the birds could fly down and touch him,” taught me that children are the keepers of connection. I realised that if I wanted him to live in a world of relationship rather than extraction, I would need to live that way myself. Home educating him opened space to question everything I had accepted as necessary or true and deepened my connection to the living world.
Through art, I discovered another threshold into the sacred. An Arts Council grant allowed me to explore earth-based arts practices, when Caroline Ross inspired me to create art directly from the land and without fossil fuels. My studies with Patrick McManaway and Brid Walsh in subtle land energies initiated me into land healing, dowsing, and the relational intelligence of place. My daily practice combines these teachings. I have been guided and mentored by many people along my journey, whom I acknowledge here.
Where I am today
Today, my work sits at the intersection of art, ceremony, parenting, and land-based cultural repair. I am a non-executive director of Earth & Mind CIC, which runs nature and wellbeing spaces, and I work with the CIC stewarding Abington Woods. I home educate my children run home ed communities and camps. I also write on my Substack, The Mythic Mother: Raising Children of the Earth, reflecting on my journey and the questions that guide it. I run a computer games company with my husband making ethical games that bring people together, which keeps me connected to the world of technology, but through experience design and play, which feeds back into my real world art.
I am currently a student of the Mythic Body course and I am working with natural materials in my shepherds hut in Abington Woods.
My philosophy
At the heart of my work is a philosophy: life is always relational, and the ways we attend, create, and care ripple through the world. I seek to cultivate spaces where people, land, and imagination are respected, nurtured, and honoured. I work with consent, creative energies, curiosity, and attentiveness, offering practices that are co-created with spirits of place, and always rooted in listening, repair, and relational aliveness.
This practice is ongoing initiation – a return to myself, to the intelligence of the world, and to the purpose that has been unfolding through life, loss, and creation.
My hope is that, through shared making, ceremony, and listening, others may also find ways to return to themselves, not by being told who to be, but by being supported to attend, care, and listen more deeply.
